Como parte del proceso de rearticulación del Movimiento Urbano Popular en México y América Latina surge la necesidad de formación de nuevos liderazgos sociales con capacidad para incidir en la construcción de las ciudades sustentables.

El 6 de Junio de 2010, La Radio Gráfica, FM 89,3 Mhz, inició la transmisión del Programa Internacional “Recorriendo el Mundo con la Casa a Cuestas”, programa realizado con la colaboración de la Alianza Internacional e Habitantes (AIH).

The housing problem is not a new phenomenon in Haiti, but it is one that has worsened and attracts the attention of many people. Thus, after the deadly, devastating earthquake on January 12, 2010, which exposed the weaknesses of the state, the frailty of the social structures and the vulnerability of the system, and which drove the population into the streets with the familiar issue of temporary shelters or makeshift camps, a new situation has developed. More than ever, this situation should engage the awareness of everyone, and mainly that of the state, whose obligation it is to allow the people to enjoy their fundamental rights: the right to housing, the right to education, the right to health, the right to nourishment, etc.

En la mañana del primero de julio, en el Hotel ocupado La Fortaleza, barrio de Constitución, hubo un intento de desalojo violento e ilegal rechazado por los vecinos, durante las operaciones la policia utilizó gas lacrimógeno y amenazó con armas de fuego.

En línea con la estrategia de expulsión de la gente de bajos recursos desde el centro de la ciudad, adoptada por el gobierno Macri en Buenos Aires Capital Federal, los vecinos de Tucumàn 2924, en el Barrio del Abasto, han sufrido una tentativa de desalojo, a l cual se han resistido, logrando en primera instancia una postergación de 48 horas.

Por orden judicial, al barrio "Tierra y Libertad" habían arribado centenares de policías y la Infantería para desalojar el gran predio en el que viven 150 familias. Pero sus habitantes no dejaron el lugar y resistieron de forma pacífica. Tras varias horas de tensión, los efectivos se retiraron a pedido del juez.

Despite a federal law enacted in 2009 to protect renters living in foreclosed properties, many tenants across the country are still being threatened with eviction and are being forced to leave their homes on short notice. A report released by the National Law Center on Homelessness & Poverty, Staying Home: The Rights of Renters Living in Foreclosed Properties, explains the impact of the new law and discusses problems with its implementation, and summarizes the results of a 50-state survey of developments in state laws protecting tenants living in foreclosed properties since early 2009.

En la carpa Derecho a la Ciudad del Foro Social Mundial-México, del 2 al 4 de mayo de 2010, aproximadamente 150 lideres del movimiento urbano popular mexicano, acompañados por la Federación Uruguaya de Cooperativas de Vivienda por Ayuda Mutua, COOPHABITAT de Dominicana, Federación de Tierra y Vivienda de Argentina, Forum Nacional de Reforma Urbana de Brasil, Movimiento Guatemalteco de Pobladores, Comité Promotor por la Renovación Urbana de Perú, Observatorio DESC de Barcelona, Servicio Voluntario de la Comunidad Europea, llegaron a las siguientes conclusiones:
