Information on the history and background of the case :
El barrio ubicado en la localidad de Ciudad Evita, La Matanza, provincia de Buenos Aires, fue fundado el 29 de marzo del 2008 por un grupo de familias de escasos recursos (en su mayoría con hijos) que se vieron obligadas, por la necesidad, a ocupar el predio que hoy los alberga, perteneciente al Instituto de la Vivienda de la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires.
Desde el Foro de Seguridad y la Junta Vecinal de Ciudad Evita se sigue presionando para que el barrio “desaparezca” sin aportar soluciones de fondo a la problemática de la vivienda para las familias pobres que han encontrado en la toma de tierras una salida desesperada al problema de la falta de techo.
Después de 2 años de lucha por un pedazo de tierra donde levantar su vivienda, el pasado viernes 11 de junio, 150 familias del barrio Tierra y Libertad, ha tenido un intento de desalojo por la policía de Capital Federal

La medida fue despuesta en el marco de una causa en la que se solicitó el desalojo por considerar que el predio, ubicado sobre la ruta 21 en proximidades de la denominada rotonda Querandí, forma parte de una reserva natural, aunque desde la Comisión de Tierras de la Nación se afirma que no es así.
